Description

King of Creation (Korth-P., – Korth-L.; 2024)

29”, 8”, EM, Dor., 5 branches, 25 buds, Tetraploid,

Throned in Glory x Tet. Rose F. Kennedy

Medium purple with large green throat and lavender watermark, small lavender and gold edge

King of Creation is the last of our introductions out of Tet. Rose F. Kennedy and the only one in the purple color range.  While the green throat is striking, the flowers also include a watermark of light rose, rose/purple petals, a white midrib, and an edge of gold and lavender.

As a garden plant, the large flowers stand out and the 8” flowers make you stop and take notice.  The scapes are well budded for such a large flower.  We have observed rebloom on it this summer.  The flowers open well and are reasonably sunfast.  King of Creation is slow to multiply which is why we had to wait 8 years to introduce it.  While not great for selling, slow in the garden means it does not need to be divided often which is good.

Going over our records, we see that King of Creation is both pod and pollen fertile.  We have not used King of Creation as much as we should have but have observed nice seedlings from it and have no doubt if used more, the result would be excellent.
