Description
Green Splash (Korth-P., – Korth-L.; 2024)
29”, 6.5”, E, Dor., 4 branches, 20 buds, Diploid, rebloom
Seedling x Pinewood Green Flash
Red with darker band around large green throat, green speckles on sepals, dark red buds.
Green Splash is always one of the first to bloom in our garden. The large flowers open flat and command attention stating “bloom season has begun”. First bloom is between June 28 and July 4 here in our NE Wisconsin garden and is quite early compared to our peak bloom season around July 25.
While being early is a great trait here, the scapes are also excellent with a sturdy build and good bud count. Add in instant rebloom and it is an outstanding garden plant. Most blooming size fans last summer had a second fan coming up providing instant rebloom. Other unique features are the speckled sepals and the dark red buds. We have not used it much for hybridizing as it is often blooming before most other plants but it should provide some great genetics for anyone looking to continue the unique traits of Green Splash.
