Rich purple with blue/purple band around a green throat. The white to lavender midribs on the petals give a star appearance.
We have been working on diploids with large green throats for many years. To date, our introductions have been with red or burgundy petal color. Star of Jacob is a breakthrough in it has a purple petal color along with a blue/purple band around the large green throat. This gives the flower a much different look with “cool” colors of blue, purple, and green compared to the warm colors of red and burgundy.
The white midribs on the petals are copied in a lighter form on the sepals. This six-pointed pattern resembles a star – hence the star in the name.
The genetics of Star of Jacob contains many excellent breeding plants and it will produce seedlings in a variety of colors and patterns.
Star of Jacob will be sold as double fans.
