Pinewood Sledgehammer is our 2024 introduction that introduced converted tetraploid genetics (T. Rose F. Kennedy) into our Velvet Hammer lines. Pinewood Sledgehammer is an impressive flower, but it is slow to increase and will not be available for sale for several years. Benjamin Andrew is typically sold out as well. Benny’s Hammer is a good chance to get the genetics from these two fabulous flowers. While not as large as either parent, Benny’s Hammer has a rich color that surpasses Pinewood Sledgehammer and is more consistent in opening and appearance than Benjamin Andrew.
As a hybridizing plant, Benny’s Hammer is pod and pollen fertile. We saw an outstanding seedling from Benny’s Hammer in the summer of 2025.
In the garden, Benny’s Hammer produced numerous beautiful flowers on fine scapes. It was quite a show-off in 2025. We are confident that people will enjoy Benny’s Hammer in their garden and if used for hybridizing, they will be rewarded with beautiful seedlings.
